What does Chong (冲) mean for a relationship?

Chong (冲 Chōng, Clash) is the six-position opposition between animals that sit directly across each other in the zodiac wheel, Rat-Horse, Ox-Goat, Tiger-Monkey, Rabbit-Rooster, Dragon-Dog, Snake-Pig. The classical sources describe Chong relationships as friction-rich but not doomed: the same energies that clash also sharpen each other, and many long-lasting partnerships sit in a Chong configuration with conscious work.

Can two of the same zodiac animal be compatible?

Yes, two of the same animal share temperament and instinctive understanding. The classical sources describe same-animal pairings as easy to start but requiring conscious differentiation over time, because partners may amplify each other's blind spots as well as strengths. Many feng shui sources recommend a complementary stone (one shared crystal plus one for each partner's growth edge) for same-animal relationships.

Is BaZi compatibility more accurate than zodiac compatibility?
