Karmic Lesson Calculator

In the Pythagorean tradition, the digits 1-9 each correspond to letters of the alphabet. When your full birth name contains no letters that map to a particular digit, that digit becomes a karmic lesson, an area of life your soul came here to develop.

What are karmic lessons in numerology?

Karmic lessons are the digits 1-9 missing entirely from your full birth name. In the Pythagorean tradition, each missing digit indicates an area of life-skill your soul came to develop this lifetime. Hans Decoz reads them as curriculum, not deficit. Most people have 0-4 karmic lessons. The most common is the missing 9, since only I and R carry the 9-vibration.

Enter your full birth name (as on your birth certificate). The calculator finds which digits 1-9 are missing from the letter-value sum of your name.

Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I find my karmic lessons?

Map each letter of your full birth name to its Pythagorean value (A=1, B=2, ..., I=9, J=1, ..., R=9, S=1, etc.). Any digit 1-9 that does not appear among your letters is a karmic lesson. Our calculator does this scan automatically.

Why is missing 9 so common?

Only two letters in the alphabet, I and R, carry the 9-vibration in the Pythagorean system. Many full names contain no I or R, making missing-9 the statistically most common karmic lesson. The lesson it indicates is widened compassion and the practice of universal love.

Are karmic lessons permanent?

No. In the Pythagorean tradition, karmic lessons are the curriculum of this lifetime. They are 'completed' when you have developed sustained competence in the area the missing digit names. Hans Decoz writes that the lesson does not change but your relationship to it deepens until the pattern is integrated.

Can changing my name remove a karmic lesson?

Traditional numerology considers the full birth name as the primary blueprint, its karmic lessons are inherent to that lifetime regardless of later name changes. A chosen name can introduce new vibrations and can be calculated separately, but it does not erase the karmic lessons of the birth name. Many numerologists calculate both charts and compare.

What if I have many karmic lessons?

Having multiple karmic lessons (4-6 missing digits) indicates a soul with a substantial growth-curriculum in this lifetime. Hans Decoz frames this not as a problem but as a sign of an ambitious soul-contract. Choose one lesson at a time to work with consciously, and let the others integrate as life surfaces them.
