Pythagorean numerology is the modern Western system of numerology that traces its philosophical roots to Pythagoras of Samos. It uses a 1-9 letter-value chart and digit-summing to calculate life path, expression, soul urge, and personal year numbers.
The Pythagorean system rests on a simple letter-value chart: A=1, B=2, C=3, D=4, E=5, F=6, G=7, H=8, I=9, then repeating J=1, K=2, and so on through the alphabet. Combined with digit-summing, adding digits until a single digit (or master number 11, 22, 33) remains, it produces a series of personal numbers that the digits combine to suggest as a symbolic portrait.
