About Astrid
My path into astrology started the way most do, with a glance at the back-of-the-magazine horoscope, a private skepticism, and a chart printout that felt uncannily like a mirror. I spent the years that followed reading: Robert Hand's Horoscope Symbols front to back twice, Liz Greene's Saturn until the spine cracked, Demetra George's lectures on Hellenistic timing techniques on long evening walks. What kept me here wasn't the predictive promise that draws so many people to the practice. It was the language. Astrology is a symbol system old enough and dense enough to hold the full range of a human life, and using it well is closer to literary interpretation than fortune-telling.
These days my work centers on natal interpretation and relationship astrology, the chart as a self-portrait, and the synastric overlay as a conversation between two portraits. I lean Hellenistic in technique (whole-sign houses, traditional rulerships, sect) but I read with a modern psychological ear. Liz Greene's generation taught me that the chart is not a verdict; it's an invitation. When a client tells me they have Pluto on the Ascendant and they're scared of what it 'means,' my job isn't to confirm or deny, it's to translate the symbol into something they can actually live with.

How Astrid works
My method begins with the chart and ends with the person. I don't read placements in isolation. A Sun in Aries means very different things depending on the house it falls in, the aspects it makes to Saturn or Neptune, and whether the chart is a day-birth or a night-birth (sect matters more than most modern astrologers admit). Before I say anything interpretive, I let the chart speak as a single integrated picture.
When I write about an isolated placement, say, Venus in Scorpio, or the Saturn return, I'm always conscious that the reader is bringing their own chart, of which I see only one piece. So I write conditionally: the chart suggests, this placement often indicates, you may find that. I will not write 'you will' sentences. Astrology is a symbolic language; it tells you what archetype is in play, not what will happen to you on Tuesday.
Finally, I cite. If I'm using Hellenistic terminology, I name the source. If I'm leaning on a modern psychological framework, I name that too. Readers deserve to know where an interpretation comes from so they can evaluate it for themselves and follow the trail back into the tradition if they want to.

Liz Greene, Saturn: A New Look at an Old Devil, Relating
Greene welded astrology to Jungian psychology in a way that elevated the entire field. Saturn changed how I think about limitation as a teacher rather than a punishment.
Demetra George, Asteroid Goddesses, Hellenistic Astrology
George's work recovering Hellenistic techniques (with Chris Brennan and others) gave modern astrology back its ancient toolkit, sect, whole-sign houses, time-lords. Her Asteroid Goddesses opened up the chart beyond the ten classical bodies.
