⚕️ Critical: This is not medical advice
Hip, thigh, and liver health require modern medical care. Hepatology, orthopedic medicine, and physical therapy are the relevant disciplines. CrystalStones.com describes the classical mapping; we do not recommend using it for medical timing. If you have hip pain, hepatic concerns, or liver-function symptoms, see a doctor.
How does Sagittarius map to the body?
Sagittarius rules the hips, thighs, and (in many classical sources) the liver, the body's larger movement-and-Jupiter-ruled region.
Manilius; Culpeper
Classical melothesia assigned Sagittarius the hips and thighs, and many sources add the liver as Jupiter's territory. Modern anatomy does not use this mapping.
Sagittarius in classical melothesia governs the hips, thighs, and (in many sources) the liver. Jupiter rules Sagittarius, and in Renaissance practice Jupiter-ruled herbs and substances were considered to support the liver and the body's larger gestures. The symbolic logic ties the centaur's powerful haunches (Sagittarius is the archer-centaur) to the human leg.
The liver association is particularly persistent, Amethyst's name comes from the Greek 'amethystos,' meaning 'not drunken,' because the stone was believed in antiquity to protect against intoxication, which mapped onto the liver. This is real history of crystal practice; it is not a treatment for alcohol dependency.

Medical astrology is a historical symbolic system, a real and well-documented chapter in the history of Western astrology, not medical advice. The classical rules (Manilius, Culpeper, Hellenistic and Renaissance practitioners) are described here for their cultural and reflective interest. CrystalStones.com does NOT recommend timing surgery, medication, fertility decisions, or any other medical care around moon signs. If you are facing a medical decision, talk to a qualified physician. The classical rule is symbolic; your doctor is not.
Cassandra pairs Sagittarius with stones carried in a pocket on long walks. The stone is a companion for the distance, not a therapy, and the walk itself is the point.

Symbolic logic: Sagittarius is the archer-centaur, whose lower body is powerful and equine. The human hip and thigh are mapped to this region of the sign.
Amethyst's name comes from Greek 'a-methystos' (not-drunken). In antiquity the stone was believed to prevent intoxication, and later folk sources filed that belief under Sagittarius' Jupiter-ruled territory. This is historical, not pharmacological.
Classical practitioners avoided elective work in a sign's region while the Moon transited it, and Sagittarius held the hips and thighs. Modern orthopedic surgery does not consider this factor. CrystalStones.com describes the classical rule; we do not recommend delaying surgery based on it.
